Y.M.C.A. HELPERS

LADIES' AUXILIARY MONTHLY MEETING. PREPARATIONS FOR MOTHER AND SON TEA. For the first time since her recent election to the presidency. Mr H. E. Pither took the chair at the monthly meeting of the Y.M.C.A. Ladies' Auxilary. held in the board room yesterday. On behalf of the auxiliary, Mrs M. G. Mackay welcomed Mrs Pither and assured her of the co-operation of all members. Eighteen ladies were present and great enthusiasm was shown in the proposed work for the season. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Corskie, Coddington and Rutherford. Mrs Esler was welcomed as a now member. According to the usual custom at the first meeting of the new year, the secretary (Mrs Cottle) read the constitution of the auxiliary and presented copies to new members. In order to suit the convenience of members, it was decided to alter the meeting day to the second Thursday in each month. It was decided to hold the annual Mother and Son Tea on Wednesday. May 22. Considerable discussion took place on details of plans for this function and it was decided that the admission charge will be one shilling per person, provided that, in cases where three or more in one family are attending, the charge will be one shilling for the mother and ninepence each for the sons. Seats will be reserved at the Y.M.C.A. office. A great deal of work is to be put into the preparation, of this event and it is anticipated that there will be a large attendance. It was decided that the secretary write to the Mayor of Masterton offering the services of the auxiliary and the facilities of the Y.M.C.A. building, in the entertainment of any men of the New Zealand fighting services, who may, from time to time, be visiting or on leave in-Masterton. At the conclusion of the meeting, afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for the day, Mesdames Nelson and Physick.
