NAZI TRUMPETING

“PURSUIT OF FLEEING ENGLISH” ' HEAVY CAPTURES OF MATERIAL CLAIMED. NORWEGIANS ATTACKING IN OSTER VALLEY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Dav. 12.50 p.m.) LONDON. May 2. “In unresting pursuit of wildly fleeing English the German troops reached Andalsnes and raised the Reich war flag at 3 p.m.”—Thus the German High Command’trumpeted the evacuation. The Germans claim the capture* of enormous quantities of materials, munitions. vehicles and mules. Swedish sources stated that German planes continuously bombed and ma-chine-gunned the districts of Namsos and Grong between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Taking advantage of the draining off of Germans for the final DombasStoren push, the Norwegians are vigorously counter-attacking in the Oster Valley, from Roros almost to Elverum. The Norwegians at Roros, fighting along the Osterdal railway and road south-eastward, encounlered determincd German rearguard resistance al Os, where German planes swooped to battle with cannon and machine-gun fire. Other Norwegians struck at the German lines at Lilleelvedalen and Amaat.

The Norwegians are reported to be confident also of breaking the communications at Storen, The Germans admit that isolated nests of resistance remain throughout Southern Norway. The terrain favours guerilla tactics, for which reason mopping up will be a lengthy process.
