Cotton reached the “News of World golf tournament final without going beyond the fifteenth hole in any match. He played dazzlingly against Anderson in the quarter final, defeating him 7/5. Cotton went out in 32. The semi-finals resulted: Cotton defeated French. 5/4; Padgham defeated Lacey at the nineteenth hole.
