CAR CONVERSION

CONVICTION IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. When James Wallace was noticed trying to start a motor car yesterday afternoon, he was seen to be intoxicated. The key was taken out of the car and when a constable came along Wallace was sitting in the car. Wallace was examined by a doctor and found to be unfit to drive. There circumstances were revealed when Wallace appeared in Court today. Wallace, a Scotsman, aged 25. admitted charges of being intoxicated while in charge of a car. and of unlawfully, converting a car to his own use. On the first charge he was convicted and discharged, and on the second he was convicted and ordered to come up<for sentence if called on within 12 months. Wallace is a member of the crew of an overseas steamer.
