ATTEMPTS BY GERMANS IN CANADA CHARGE AGAINST CONSULS IN U.S.A. STATEMENT BY OFFICIAL IN TORONTO. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) TORONTO. May 1. Marshal AV. J. Scott said German saboteurs were active in Ontario, operating in conjunction with German Consuls in the United States. There had been three arrests and other instances of attempted sabotage from which the damage had been trifling, mainly damage to property and machinery. For example, small screws had been dropped into machinery, and transformers damaged. He added that there had been two unsuccessful attempts to destroy liners leaving Canadian ports.
