A War Office communique states: “In the Gudbrandsdals Valley on Sunday the enemy attacked, strongly supported by tanks and low-flying aircraft. We repulsed all the attacks, and th’e enemy suffered heavy losses, including three medium tanks. “During the night our troops made a short withdrawal to a position covering Dombas. “Enemy air attacks on. Andalsnes and Modle continued throughout the day. The situation at Namsos and Narvik is unchanged.” BRITISH RETICENCE PREMIER REFUSES STATEMENT AT PRESENT. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON. April 30. The Prime Minister, Mr Neville Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, said it was not in the public in--terest at present to make a statement on Government measures in Norway. The War Minister. Mr Oliver Stanley, said the troops in Norway possess full war equipment. A British Official Wireless message reports that Mr Chamberlain, replying to a question in the House of Commons from the Leader of the Opposition, Mr C. R. Attlee, said he would make a statement on the position in Norway as soon as possible, probably during the week. SWEDISH FRONTIER NOT CROSSED BY ANY BRITISH SOLDIERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) RUGBY, April 30. It is authoritatively stated that no British officer or soldier has crossed the frontier into Sweden in the course of the present campaign in Norway. A small party of Press representatives is waiting to go to the Norwegian frontier at short notice. More will follow.
