GIRLS’ CHOIR

INTERHOUSE ASSOCIATION ENTERPRISE. INDOOR BASKETBALL CONTEST. The activities of the Masterton interhouse Association have not terminated with the passing' of summer. The girls’ choir is still an active force, the practices having been well maintained. A total of 70 girls are in the choir. The public of Masterton will have the opportunity of hearing the choir at a concert to be held in the near future. Under the leadership of Mi's Miller Hope and with Mrs J. R. Dickson as pianiste the choir has been making steady progress and promises a very pleasant surprise lor local audiences. It is stated that the supper arrangements for the patriotic dance to be held in the Town Hall on Saturday night have received special consideration, and a hot savoury buffet supper will be served.

The girls' indoor basketball competition, which is being organised by a sub-committec of the Interhouse Association in conjunction with the Masterton Y.M.C.A., has been most enthusiastically received by the girls. There will be 15 teams taking part. To make the competition even the teams have been divided into two sections.

The following rules have been drawn up: (1) Each team'shall consist of six players: (2) no team shall play a match with loss than four players: (3> no player shall play for more than one team: <4) no player shall play in a B grade team, who has played in two or more matches in any A grade team: (5) all teams must play in their registered colours and in the regulation attire; only rubber-soled tennis or other similar shoes may be worn in the gymnasium: (.6) the duration of all games shall be decided upon bj the Basketball Committee; (7) one minute "time out” per team- may be allowed once in each match; (8) any team not ready to play when called shall be handicapped one goal (2 points) for every complete minute it is late, until the minimum number of players (four) is fielded, or until the expiration of five minutes, when the game shall be forfeited; (9) captains shall sec that a team sheet is filled in before each game; (10) points for the cup will be awarded as follows: Win. 2 points; draw, 1 point; (ID no team shall be eligible to play in any match until all fees have been paid; (12) the .Basketball Committee may require any player to withdraw from any game or from the whole competition, who, after reasonable warning, continues to play or behave in a manner detrimental to the game or to other players; (13) the Basketball Committee reserves the right to revise these rules, as may at any time be considered necessary.
