EXTENSION OF BRITISH OPERATIONS
Indicated in War Office Communique BRITISH PLANES RAID AERODROMES NEAR OSLO LARGE FIRE STARTED BY INCENDIARY BOMBS The R.A.F. has for the first time raided two German aerodromes on the outskirts of Oslo. A large fire was started at one of the aerodromes by incendiary bombs. Aalborg, m Denmark, was again attacked for the third night in succession. Several heavy bombs were dropped. The anti-aircraft defences had been strongly reinforced and as a result one of our aircraft failed to return. The Supreme War Council met in Paris on Monday and yesterday. For the first time a Norwegian representative was present, There was a general exchange of views on all political and military problems and the council reached new decisions designed to give effective co-operation in all spheres. Norway s brave resistance was the subject of warm tribute by the British, French and Polish representatives. The Norwegian representative expressed the thanks of his Government for the speed and effectiveness of the Allied help given to Norway. A British War Office communique states that British and Norwegian troops are resisting German pressure in the south. North of Trondheim Allied forces are engaged in sharp fighting as the result of a German counter-attack. A German communique admits for the first time that German forces have been in contact with the Allies on land. Fighting is admitted at a village north of Trondheim. Other reports indicate that the Allied forces are closing in on Trondheim from the north and south and are making marked progress.
