HOCKEY
GAME IN WAIRARAPA UMPIRES' ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Hockey Umpires’ Association was held in the Kia Ora Club Rooms, Masterton, last night. Mr G. W. Morice presided over a good attendance of members. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President. Mr G. W. Morice; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Fisher and C. Spiers: lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr R. S. Moor; hon. auditor, Mr R. Foster; delegate to New Zealand Umpires’ Association, Mr C. S. Falconer; delegate to Wairarapa Ladies’ Association, Mr A. Southey; delegate to Wairarapa Men’s Association, Mr C. N. Cole; appointments, Mr R. S. Moor; examination committee, Messrs J. Moynahan, J. Fisher and G. Hayne. It was decided that a representative be appointed in each town in the district, to appoint a substitute umpire when the appointed umpire in a match in their town was not available. Those selected in connection therewith were: Greytown, Mr G. Maloney; Carterton and Daletield, Mr J. Fisher; Featherston. Mr F. Staples, and Masterton, Mr C. N. Cole.
It was pointed out that all umpires should make every endeavour to officiate in the games to which they are . appointed, so as to avoid inconvenience. An umpire for representative ' matches will be selected by the respec- ' tive associations from the names of , three umpires submitted by the Um- ' pires’ Association. , It was decided to write to Mr W. ’ Harding thanking him for his past ser- [ vices to the Umpires’ Association. ; It was stated that the association ' required umpires and would be pleased 1 to enrol new members to assist the . game. , The large number of new players ini dicates a promising future for hockey. i FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.
