COURSING

WINTER SEASON. TO OPEN ON SATURDAY. Next Saturday, April 27. marks the opening of the winter coursing season on the Plumpton at Akura. A 16dog puppy stake and a IG-dog open stake are to be run, and handsome trophies, one donated by the ladies committee, are being offered. One prominent club member states that he has not at any time seen the hares in better condition, and this, of course, is due to the thorough training which they have already gone through in recent months. Entries close with the secretary on Wednesday, a large number having already been received, including many from Wellington.
