EKETAHUNA

ANGLICAN CHURCH PARISHIONERS’ MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of parishioner; of the Eketahuna Anglican Churcl was held in the schoolroom, when then was a fair attendance. The election of officers resulted:— Vicar's Warden. Mr. J. H. Berney People's Warden. Miss M. Anderson (re-elected); vestry Dr. E. M. Simmers. Messrs. A. D. Murray. A. Mason H. E. Rogers. Tredray (subject to con sent). Mesdames W. Anderson and E Albrechtsen. Misses M. Wilson and Alison Simmers; secretary, Mr. V. M Anderson (re-elected); treasurer. Mr W. F. Taylor (re-elected). EKETAHUNA POST OFFICE ANZAC DAY ARRANGEMENTS. The following arrangements will be observed at the Eketahuna Post Offic: on Anzac Day:—Post Office, closed, telegraph office, closed; telephone ex change, open continuously. Late Mr. Harold Price. The funeral of the late Mr. Harold Price took place on Saturday and wa: largely attended. The Rev. L. Tver; conducted services at St. Cuthbert’; Church and at the graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs. D. Almond. W. Dawson. J. Spring. F. Hooper. J. Ryan and J. Ammundson. Many beautiful wreaths were received. The late Mr. Price was born at Ashburton, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Price. He received his education at the Chertsey and Ashburton schools. In his early years he went to Otane and served his apprenticeship at Mr. E. G. Windley’; garage. About two years ago he was appointed motor mechanic to the Eketahuna County Council and proved himself a steady and thoroughly capable workman. He was very interested in miniature rifle shooting and was mainly responsible for resuscitating the Eketahuna Club last year, he being the secretary at the time of his death. Mr. Price was also a keen member of the Eketahuna Bowling Club and of the Waipawa Druids' Lodge. During his short residence in Eketahuna the deceased made many friends by his quiet manner and willingness to help when his services were required. A widow and infant daughter are left to mourn their loss and te them the sympathy' of many friends will be extended.

MOTHERS’ UNION YESTERDAY'S MEETING. There was a very good attendance al the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Mothers' Union held yesterday. A short service was conducted by the Rev. L. Ives, after which the Rev. Button, oi Pahiatua. gave a very interesting address concerning his student days at Cambridge University and in tire Sunday school room. Photographs of the University were passed around, the speaker describing each one. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Button for his address. A vote of sympathy was extended to the secretary. Mrs. Price, in her bereavement. It was regretted that as Mrs Price was leaving the town she would be unable to continue as secretary. Mrs Wilkie Anderson was appointed secretary to succeed Mrs. Price. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames W. Olsen, B. Bowering. W. Dawson and Wilkie Anderson. Personal Items. Miss M. Hooper, Stanley Street.' is visiting Wellington. Mrs. M. A. Felling left yesterday on a fortnight’s visit to Waipukurau. Miss Christie, of Kilbirnie, and Mrs. Christie, of Nelson, spent the weekend with their nieces, the Misses Wilson. Stanley Street. Miss M. Hooper. Masterton. was the guest of Nurse Davis for the week-end. Mr. Don Watson (manager- of Cooper's Estate. Brooklands) and Mrs. ■Watson are on a motor tour of Hawke's Bay. ' ■ Mr. and Mrs-. Brookes, Marlborough, are the guests of the Rev.'and Mrs. L Ives. -I ■ Mrs. Harold . Smith.. Pahiatua. has been the guest of Mrs. F. C. Turnor. Wai Waka. The' friends of Mr. J. Husband. Pahiatua, will be pleased to learn that he is progressing favourably under treatment in the Pahiatua Hospital.
