AT HAAST PASS
DISMISSAL OF TWO MEN BY MINISTER FULL REASONS TO BE MADE PUBLIC. STATEMENT BY MR SEMPLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. 9 he full reasons for the dismissal of two men employed by the Public Works Department at the Haast Pass Road will bo made public within a few days. This assurance was given by the Minister of Public Works (Mr Semple) today. "I have been subjected to unjust criticism for the dismissal of these two men,' said Mr Semple. "It has been slated that the men wore sacked because they dared to express a political opinion differing from my own. 1 want i.o tell my critics that such a statement is untrue and absurd. Every man . in this country is entitled to hold any political opinion he likes, no matter how much it. may differ from that of any other person. He has that light as a citizen of a free country. These two men were dismissed for good and .sufficient reasons, which will be divulged publicly in the next I few days.”
