STERN & RITTER WAR
ALLIES CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE BROADCAST BY BRITISH MINISTER. ARMY READY TO DO ITS PART IN NORWAY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. April 20. The Secretary of War, Mr Oliver Stanley, in a broadcast speech, said: • During the last few days a new war front has presented itself to the Allies in Norway, wantonly invaded by German troops as part cf the settled plan of aggression against peaceful neutral countries. Already our Navy and Air Force have proved themselves more than equal to the occasion. Now our Army is ready to do its part. “This is going to be a stern and bitter war. We cannot afford to lose it. We have cnly to consider the tragic fate of Poland and other countries to realise what would become of us if we did. Even less can we afford to make a draw of it and be compelled to fight another in a few years’ time. Civilisation could not survive either a German victory or a third world war."
