NEW ZEALAND REINFORCEMENTS SERVICE FOR WAR PERIOD. SELECTION OF YACHTSMEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Reinforcements of naval personnel Icing sent from Now Zealand In join the Royal Navy for the duration of hostilities were announced last night | by the Minister of Defence. Mr Junes, j He recalled that on March I he had I made a statement describing die vari- ! ous steps which had been taken to comply with the requests received from the United Kingdom Government i'or personnel for the Royal Navy. The naval draft, said the Minister, would include about 250 officers and men of the Royal Nav.y Volunteer Reserve. some 50 technical ratings, specially entered for the Royal Navy, and over 80 Imperial ratings who had been icplaccd in the New Zealand Naval Force-, by reserves. The new entries and junior R.N.V.R. ratings had all received special training to fit them for service in the Royal Navy. In addition the following ton yachtsmen had been selected for commissions as sub-lieutenants in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve "for service overseas:—Sydney G. Wallace, Wellington; T. E. Mellor, Wellington; Ewan Cameron, Dunedin; Basil Shaw, Napier; Stanley G. Jarvis, Auckland- William S. Wilson. Auckland; Arthur J. Martin, Auckland; Reginald A. Holloway. Auckland; Ralph B. Goodwin, Auckland; Ronald V. Gunn. Hokitika.
