“That one’s got circular disease, said a member, when a pear with a kind of “fairy ring” blemish on it was exhibited at a meeting of the Canterbury Fruitgrowers’ Association by a member who wanted to know what was the matter with the fruit. The pear had a ring on its side about one and a half inches in diameter. "All those circulars we get from the Internal Marketing Department cause that sort of mark, Mr Chairman." said the member, “that's circular disease." Another curio placed on the table by a member was a Jonathan apple not more than half an inch in diameter, yet apparently fully developed. Il was well coloured and had all the features in miniature of a normal apple. and even appeared to have ripened. because a bird had taken a peck out of it. (instant relief for Coughs, Colds.
