WORK ON SEVENTH DAY. MAGISTRATE’S DECISION UPHELD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. April 19. The decision of Mr J. Gilmour. S.M., regarding an application under the New Zealand Dairy Factory Employees’ Award against, which an appeal had been lodged by the workers has been upheld by a majority decision of the Arbitration Court. 'The workers claimed that workers in factories were entitled Io overtime and to additional holidays if they were required to work seven days a week. The magistrate found that, the hours prescribed in the award were for a six day week and that work on the seventh day was governed by a clause providing for a seven day week where not more than two workers were employed. Consequently he held that time worked on the seventh day should not be included in (he weekly total for the purpose of arriving at the amount of overtime payable.
