SWISS POLICY

DETERMINATION TO RESIST INVASION ADDITIONAL MEN CALLED UP. ITALY BEING WATCHED CLOSELY By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. BASLE. April 18. The Swiss Federal Council has issued a decree calling up an additional 55,000 Territorials this year. The Armj r Command and the Federal Council have jointly issued a communique stating that: “War mobilisation would be ordered if Switzerland were attacked. The militia would be ordered to act immediately and firmly against air attack, parachute troops and saboteurs. We will attack energetically everywhere.” The watch for suspected persons has been intensified. Any reports easting doubts on the resolution to resist an invader will be regarded as enemy propaganda. Swiss political circles are closely watching the Italian attitude and foresee a danger that a belligerent Italy may no longer retain an interest in a peaceful Switzerland as a buffer state.
