It is officially stated that the British destroyer Eclipse, damaged by a “near miss'’ in a bomb attack, is now at her base. As far as is known there are no survivors from 11.M.5. Hunter, which was commanded by Lieutenant-Commari-der L. De Villiers. ■ It is officially announced that the Polish submarine Orzel sank the enemy troopship Rio de Janeiro. The British submarine Sea Lion sank the August Leonhardt. It is revealed that German planes dropped 115 bombs against British warships after the bombardment of Stavanger on Thursday, but scored only one hit. BRITISH AT NARVIK ATTACK NOT YET BEGUN. ACCORDING TO CORRESPONDENT IN SWEDEN. (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, April 19. The British United Press correspondent at Lulea says there is no foundation for reports that the British have occupied Narvik.. It is understood that the British have not yet begun their attack. DESTROYER HARDY SALVAGE TO BE CONSIDERED. RUGBY, April 19. The Financial Secretary to the Admiralty, Sir Victor Warrender, stated in the House of Commons in a reply, that the Admiralty would certainly consider the possibility of salving the destroyer Hardy, which ran ashore at Narvik. SERVE OR BE SHOT GERMAN DEMAND ON MEN IN NORWAY. STOCKHOLM. April 19. The German commander in Norway proclaimed that all Norwegian men aged from 16 to 50 years must report to German headquarters before noon on April 24, otherwise they will be shot. They must assist in building fortifications and in the transport of war materials. NEW ZEALAND GIFT EXPRESSION OF GRATITUDE. LONDON. April 18. A Norwegian Minister, acknowledging the donation of £5OO from the New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board, said: — “I hardly need say how deeply moved I am personally by this magnificent sign of sympathy by the citizens of New Zealand. My compatriots in their present difficulties will be getting new force through signs of friendship like this.”
