WORK ON SEVENTH DAY. MAGI STR ATE’S DECISION UPHELD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The decision of Mr .). Gilmour. S.M.. regarding an application under the New Zealand Dairy Factory Employees’ Award against which an appeal had been lodged by the workers has been upheld by a majority decision of the Arbitration Court. The workers claimed that workers in factories were entitled to overtime and to additional holidays if they were required to work seven days a week. The magistrate found that the hours prescribed in the award were for a six day week and that work on the seventh day was governed by a clause providing for a seven day week where not more than two workers were employed. Consequently lie held that time worked on the seventh day should riot lie included in (Tie weekly total for the purpose of arriving at the hJnount uf .jveit'mie payable.
