DULL EXPLOSIONS
HEARD ON BRITISH COAST. SUPPOSED ENEMY ATTACKS ON SHIPPING. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON. April 18. The sound of gunfire and dull explosions brought people rushing to the seafront in several south-west coast towns late last night. It is believed that Nazi planes attacked shipping Searchlights swept the sea and momentarily lit up a plane. The sound of aircraft engines and heavy firing continued for two hours. Bombers unsuccessfully attempted to attack a convoy off north-east Scotland.
