COMPLAINT BY COUNCILLOR. IN AN APPALLING STATE. “The numbering of houses in Essex; Street is in an appalling state." obser-i ved Councillor G. D. Wilson at last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council. “It would bo far better to have no numbers at all. I do not know whether it comes within the province of this council to do anything but it seems a pity that something is not done in Hie mallei'. The Mayor. Mr T. Jordan, pointed i ut that some years ago the councilhad engaged a man to do the job. Councilloi li .E. Gardner held the view that the numbers should be placed on the gate post, so that they could be seen more readily at night. Even in the daytime it was difficult to see numbers oi' the front door if the door was open. The Town Clerk was instructed to look hito the matter.
