NORWEGIAN OFFICERS ACCUSED ARREST OF NARVIK COMMANDER PUPPET GOVERNMENT SENT TO FRONT. The arrest of Colonel Sundlo, the local Norwegian commander at Narvik has revealed the extent to which the perfidy of this pro-Nazi Norwegian was responsible for the fall of Narvik. Colonel Sundlo and the port commander detained two Norwegian warships after the alarm of the Germans’ approach had been received. Instead of going to sea to intercept the Germans the Norwegian warships were ordered to remain at their moorings, and 350 Norwegian sailors went to their death before they could fire a shot. Stockholm says that the Germans have ordered a special train to take Major Quisling’s Government to the front to fight against the Norwegians. The Norwegian authorities have dismissed the commander of the fortress at Kongsvinger, General Hochnielsen. for delaying munitions for the troops and sympathising with the puppet government. LOSSES DENIED LUDICROUS GERMAN REPORTS. “POSITION AT NARVIK STRENGTHENED. BERLIN, April 13. The High Command claims that the position in Norway is consolidated after further reinforcements of German troops at Narvik, strengthening the position there. The British had not attempted a landing. An attack by British aeroplanes against the harbour yesterday was unsuccessful, and one was shot down. The British la'ter attacked Bergen and eight planes were shot down, the communique continues. Two German planes were missing. Air attacks against Stavanger’ failed, and one ■enemy plane was shot down. The day was quiet at Oslo and the transport of troops continued according to plan. The High Command did not refer to German naval losses but quoted an Amsterdam report that a British cruiser sunk off Trondheim on April. 4 was the cruiser York. It also claimed that two British submarines had been sunk by bombs in the North Sea. GERMAN FORCES ITALIAN ESTIMATE 100,000. ROME. April 13. Newspapers estimate iihe German expeditionary force in Norway at 100,000 and say the Germans are rapidly occupying all vital centres, despite Norwegian guerrilla warfare.
