FEILDING SALE YESTERDAY. BUSINESS SLACK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING. April 12. Business was slack at today’s sale in Feilding, both sheep and cattle being backward in price. Beef also experienced a dull sale, the offering exceeding the demand. Fat sheep: A small entry of mutton held at fairly firm values and made a ready clearance. Extra prime lambs made 21s to 22s 2d. light 17s 6d; extra prime wethers 24s to 25s 9d. prime- 23s to 23s 9d, lighter 19s to 21s; prime ewes 15s to 15s 4d, lighter prime 14s Id to 14s 3d. Store sheep: Except for a few lines of good -ewes, the demand for store sheep was poor second-class and inferior sheep being down on last week's prices. Store cattle: The entry of store cattle again exceeded the demand, several lines being unsold, and prices generally were easier. Dairy cows: Winter milkers met with a good demand and sold at advanced prices. Best springing cows made £l2, later calvers £9 15s. lowconditioned £4 15s; good springing heifers £9 5s to £lO, others £6 to £9; heifers in milk £4 12s 6d to £7. Fat cattle: A heavy penning of beef found the market dull, though topquality lines made fair values. Prime heifers made £6 15s to £7 18s, second grade £5 15s to £6 10s; best cows £8 10s, mediumweights £6 15s, light £4 5s to £6; light steers £9 15s, unfinished £7 2s 6d to £8 6s; vealers £1 5s to £2 19s. Pigs: The inquiry for pigs was a little easier, with a slight, decline in prices. Weaners made 7s to 8s 6d: slips 10s 6d to 18s 6d; stores 19s 6d to 23s 6d; porkers £1 12s to £2 14s.
CARTERTON SALE. LATE RATES RULE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., reports as follows: —A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at Carterton sale yesterday, and was offered to a large attendance. Prices ruling were on a par with late rates and practically a total clearance was effected. The following are some of the realisations: — Cattle: —Jersey cows on drop, to .£lO 15s; Jersey heifers on drop, to £9; 18 months’ Jersey heifers r.w.b. to £4 12s; 18 months’ Ayrshire heifers, r.w.b., to £3 10s; weaner Jersey heifers, £2 16s to £3; fat cows, £4 15s to £6 Ils: fat heifers, £5 to £5 18s; forward cows, £3 8s to £4 12s 6d; store cows. £2 5s to £3: cull cows, £1 to £1 15s; cows and calves, £3 17s 6d to £4 18s; bulls, £2 5s to £7 ss. Pigs:—Weaners (good), 8s 6d to 10s 6d; ditto (medium), 6s 6d to 8s; (small) 3s to 6s; slips, 12s to 16s; store pigs. 17s 6d to 245; light porkers. 26s to 325; porkers, 33s to £2 4s; baedners. £2 16s to £3 12s; p.b. sows. £3 10s to £4 7s Gel; p.b. boars, £2 10s to £4.
