SHOW AFFAIRS

MASTERTON A. & P. ASSOCIATION. . COURSING CLUB'S PLANT. The monthly meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held last night. The president. Mr R. E. Gordon Lee, presided over a fair attendance of members. Prior to the commencement of business a motion of sympathy was passed with Mr A. J. Patrick in the loss of his wife, Mr H. J. Wardell, in the loss of his son, Mr R. Welch in the loss of his wife, and with the relatives of the late Mr Simon Campbell. A motion of sympathy with the Government, in the loss of the Prime Minister was also passed. Mr N. Lamont, secretary of the Wairarapa district committee of the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs wrote applying for the use of the showgrounds on Thursday. April 18. The request was granted. The secretary of the Wellington Y.W.C.A. wrote thanking the Association for its consideration during the time the showgrounds were used as a girls' camp, and stated that the grounds were admirably suited to their purposes. Mention was also made of the services rendered by the caretaker, Mr Jacobsen. The Wairarapa Coursing Club wrote drawing the Association's attention to the damage which had been suffered by the racing plant prior to the plant being used at the night show. It was pointed out that the damage had canscd considerable inconvenience. It was decided to send a letter to the Coursing Club, stating that the Association was not entirely to blame lor the damage. Members expressed pleasure at Mr W. Moore’s speedy recovery from his accident at the show, and it was decided to write to him expressing the Association's best wishes. It was decided to send a remit to the Royal Conference recommending that the president's address be circularised prior to the conference, to save time taken up in its presentation. Accounts for £l3B Is lid were passed. Receipts since last meeting totalled £319.
