EKETAHUNA

PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING OF SUB-BRANCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Eketahuna sub-branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Fire Station yesterday. those present being Mesdames E. Albrechtsen (chair), E. M. Simmers, A. H. Gray. S. M. George. N. Richardson. and L. Ives (acting-secretary). It was reported that the net proceeds from the hoop-la on Easter Monday amounted to £7 6s lid. The nurse reported that during the month 55 adults. 55 babies and seven older children had visited the rooms. Thirteen visits were paid to homes and four to the district. It was decided to hold the annual meeting at the Rest Room on May 9. The secretary acknowledges with grateful thanks subscriptions of .? each from Mesdames S. M. George. E. M. Simmers and Miss A. Anderson. Members are reminded that annual subscriptions are now due and may be paid to Mrs Ives. RED CROSS SOCIETY VERY SUCCESSFUL DANCE. The Red Cross Society's dance held, in the Odd Fellows' Hall last nighn proved very successful from all points of view.'The attendance was large, and included many visitors from outside districts. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Messrs D. Thompson, N. Liardet and Paul Jones, while Mr M. Shale excellently filled the position of M.C. Supper was dispensed by members of the committee. Dancing continued until a late hour. Carrying Business. In this issue Mr E. Goss advises thal he is prepared to undertake all classes of carrying work. He can also supply firewood in any quantity. Old Boys' Football Club The annual meeting of the Old Boys' Football Club will take place in the Fire Station tonight. Successful Golfer. Mr Noel Payne, youngest son of M>' and Mrs R. Payne, of Eketahuna. has had a very successful season as a mem ber of the Paremata Golf Club. He has won the Summer Cup. the Eclectic Cup. and the Championship at the Shandon Club's Easter tournament. Mr Page, who is only 13 years of age. has commenced this season well, by winning the long-driving competition al his home club's green with a drive of 260 vards.
