LANSDOWNE SCHOOL
FURTHER ACCOMMODATION NEEDED. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The usual meeting of the Lansdowne School Committee was held last evening, Mr H. E. Pither presiding over a full attendance of members. Accounts amounting to £1 Is 4d were passed and the treasurer presented a report that the accounts for the school year ended February 29 had been returned from audit without any queries. In connection with the Anzac Day observances it was arranged that a speaker to address the pupils should be provided through the Returned Soldiers' Association. Advice had been received from the Education Board that consideration in regard to providing further accommodation to overcome crowding at the school was receiving attention and that early action would be taken in the matter. The headmaster's report was received and adopted, the roll showing a total of 27G pupils—of whom 82 had been enrolled since the commencement of the school year. The grounds were in excellent order and were the subject of complimentary reference from the Departmental inspectors who had recently visited the school. The secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council in reference to tar-sealing the footpath fronting the school property. As this was the, last meeting of the present compiittcc the Chairman extended to members his appreciation of their co-operation in the work of the school during the past 2 years, and also made reference to the splendid work that had been given by individual members. Arrangements were completed for the holding of a Paddy's Market in aid of school funds on Wednesday. April 24. and a circular to parents was being issued to the pupils of the school within the next day or so.
