MEETING OF MASTERTON COMMITTEE. RECENT CENTENNIAL DISPLAY. The monthly meeting of the Mastertoil branch of (he Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon, the president, Mrs ,1. Caselberg, being in the chair. Others present were Mesdames J. D. O’Connor, H. Morrison, T. F. Watson, A. F. Stewart. N. Irwin, A. C. Ericson, J. C. Broad. A. H. FallooiL R. F. Beetham. W. A. Michael. T. Jordan, J. M. Coradine, H. H. Daniell, P. Nathan. J. M. James and S. L. P. Free. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Sortain Smith. D. Donald. Carmine. C. T. Richardson, E. G. Norman. R. Miller and T. W. Wardell. The president made reference to the loss the country had suffered in the death of the late Prime Minister, Mr Savage. As a mark of respect all members stood in silence.
A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs T. W. Wardell in the death of her grandson. A letter was received from Miss Fitzgibbon. Nursing Adviser to the council." notifying the branch that she would be visiting Masterton on Friday. April 26. A letter was received from the secretary of the Red Cross Society asking the branch to appoint two delegate?: to the newly-formed branch of the Red Cross in Masterton. The committee had been informed from headquarters that it was contrary to the rules of the society to be represented on outside organisations. Individual members were free to take part. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Lenz for the gift of a doll for competition, the proceeds to be in aid of the branch funds. The doll is on view in the Plunket Rooms. Nurse Cocker gave a very full and interesting account of her ten days’ refresher course at . the Wellington General Hospital. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr P. Borthwick for his generous assistance in lending and fitting up a lorry for the Centennial parade and also to the driver provided by Mr Borthwick and to the subcommittee appointed by the branch to t attend to the decorations and other arrangements in connection therewith. The treasurer presented accounts amounting to £59 7s lid, which were passed. The nurse’s report for March stated: Masterton, visits to office, adults 405, babies 382; pre-school children, 38; telephone, 130; total, 955. Visits to homes, new cases, ,36; old cases, 136; total, 172. Pre-school children seen in homes, 18. New cases for month, town 18; new cases charted, town and country, 25. Out-stations: Tinui sub-branch, Tinui, Annedale, Riversdale, Homewood, Blairlogie, one visit each; new cases, 4; visits to new cases, 6; old cases, 7; total, 13. Mauriceville sub-branch, Kopuaranga, Hastwells, Mauriceville East, Mauriceville West, Ihuraua Valley, two visits; new cases, 3; visits to new cases. 5; old cases, 26; total. 31. Pre-natal ’ sec-, tion: New case. 1; return visits, 7: visits to home, 1; casuals, 2; total. 11. Thanks for garments were accorded Mrs Cameron and Mrs J. Caselberg.
