CROQUET

LANSDOWNE CLUB. SEASON CLOSED. Yesterday afternoon, the Lansdowne Croquet Club brought its 1939-40 season to a close. Owing to the inclement weather a social afternoon was held at the president’s residence (Mrs. J. G. Dagg) when competitions were indulged in, the winners being Mesdames J. Ackerman, Murdoch, Davis-Goff and Donovan. After a dainty afternoon tea had been partaken of, Mrs. Dagg presented the prizes won during the season as follows: B championship and Burling Cup, Mrs. E. B. Morris; C championship, Mrs. J. McGregor. The president’s trophy for the most improved player went to Mrs. Davis-Goff. On the motion of Mrs. Donovan, a vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Dagg for the use of her ihcwe for the gathering.
