WOMEN’S DIVISION

MASTERTON BRANCH ACTIVITIES. FOURTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT. The fourteenth annual report of the Masterton branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers Union, to be presented at the annual meeting by the president. Mrs L. Groves, states: “The year has been a quiet one xyith the branch. The monthly meetings have been poorly attended. This has worried your president very much. I would like to impress upon members the importance of attending the meetings regularly and so taking a share hFthe work of the branch, instead of leaving it all Io a few enthusiastic members. To these faithful few I wish to extend my sincere thanks lor all the help they have given me during the year. “The annual shop day was not held this year owing to the outbreak of war. In consequence our finances are not in such a sound position as they were last year. The members paid their usual visit to the Public Hospital at Christmas time and served lea to the women patients. This visit is much ap-i preeiated by the patients and I hope, ii will be repeated this year. During tin- year a visit was paid to the branch | bv Mrs Stanley Fletcher, who gave a very interesting address on nursing and the need for preparedness in case of national emergency. Mrs Alex Donald. on account of leaving the district relinquished her position as hon treasurer, which was taken over by Mrs C. I-I. McKenzie. “In conclusion I extend my deepest sympathy to all who have suffered in any way through bereavement or illness. Also 1 wish to thank the committee, hon secretary and treasurer and auditor (Mr H. IVI. Boddinglon) respect lively for their loyal support, and to the Press for their generous publicity our thanks are due."
