Mrs. L. B. Cross, of Church Street. Masterton, is visiting Wellington. Miss E. E. Ashby has been appointed sole teacher at the Newman School. Mr. and Mrs. F. Clarke (Palmerston North) are staying at the Hotel Midland, Masterton. Miss F. M. Coatsworth (Taranaki) has been appointed assistant teacher at Ihe Pahial.ua School. Mr. and Mrs. R. Maxwell. College Street. Masterton, have left on a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs. C. Hornblow, Island Bay, Wellington. was a recent visitor to Masterton. Miss Jocelyn Walker, .the gifted young Wellington pianist, has been awarded a scholarship, valued at £3OO. and tenable for two years at the Royal Academy of Music. London. This is the principal of the three scholarships offered by the .Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London, to candidates at the 1939 examinations, and was awarded on the recommendations of Drs. Staton and Colles.
