RUGBY AT ALDERSHOT
NEW ZEALAND TEAM BEATS LOCAL COMMAND HARD AND KEEN CONTEST. TRADITIONS OF AI.L BLACKS RECALLED. By Telegraph—Press Assoeiai ion—Copyright. (Received This Day. 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 7. There was a characteristic All Black background when the New Zealand Contingent played the Aidershot Command. The match began after the famous war cry. The High Commissioner (Mr W. .1. .Jordan), was present and many members of the contingent were bunched among the spectators, and kept up a refreshing and frank running commentary. The whole side played hard, keen football, reminiscent of the great All Blacks' play seen here in the past. Outstanding players were Coombe, Cutbush, and Francis. A penalty goal for the Command came 15 minutes after the start. The New Zealanders, 'within two minutes, responded and took the lead, which the Command regained, then again lost. At half-time the score was 10 to 8. The second half was less interesting, though Cutbush frequently showed himself a fine player. The only further score came towards the end when Coombe kicked a penalty goal, giving New Zealand the victory by 13 points to 8.
