STOCK MARKET
PONGAROA SALE. SPIRITED DEMAND FOR SHEEP. Messrs Dalgety & Co,. Ltd., report on their Pongaroa sale held on Saturday as follows: —A full yarding of sheep and a few pens of cattle came forward and were offered to a large attendance, buyers being present from Dannevirke, Pahiatua and all the local districts. The sheep yarded met with a spirited sale and prices were on a par (and in some cases above those) ruling at sales held in the main centres of late. Cattle also sold at late rates. Wth the exception of one small per: of lambs and a pen of cattle a total clearance was effected at prices which must be considered as very satisfactory.
The following list of our principal sales will indicate values: 2-th wethers, 19s. 19s Id, 19s 4d to 19s 6d; B.F. 2-ths, 17s 6d to 18s; M.A. ewes. 20s; medium 5-year ewes, 15s Gd; failing mouthed ewes. 13s 4d; fattening ewes, 8s 7d, 8s lOd to 9s Id; good wether lambs. 16s; shorn do.. 13s 4d; small W.F. wether lambs, 8s lOd, 9s Id to 10s 4d; woolly ewe lambs. 19s, 19s 6d to 22s 6d; M.A. Down ewes. 17s 6d; shorn W.F. ewe lambs, 15s 6d, 15s 7d to 17s lOd; small ewe lambs, 10s 4d 10s 7d to 12s 6d; small B.F. lambs 10s 4d; 5-year Romney rams, 20s, l.fgns to 2.1 gns; one 5-year Romney ram realised 4gns; agedmouth Down rams., lgn to llgns. Cattle: Coloured 3-year steers, £5; store heifers x dairy. £2 Is to £2 10s; small weaner P.A. steers. 22s 6d.
