TRADE WITH BALKANS
THE NEW BRITISH DRIVE. BID /OR PERMANENT RESULTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON. April 5. A big British trade drive in the Balkans is foreshadowed in the announcement that the Government is setting up a company to conduct trade with neutral firms. British representatives will be sent to the Balkans to find ways of increasing trade. Trade agreements which Britain already has with some of the Balkan countries may be adapted to barter —a revolutionary measure in English trading policy. It is emphasised in London that this] Government-sponsored trade organisation will not end wilh Hie war but is intended I<> be a permanent feature of British trade wilh the Balkans. The Board of Trade announces (hat export groups have been established in 26 British industries, including cotton cutlery. leather. motor-ears, paper, pottery, rubber, wool, and whisky, as part of the Export Council's drive for expanding overseas trade.
