WAIRARAPA COUNCIL MEETING IN MASTERTON ARTICLES FOR SOLDIERS OVERSEAS The quarterly meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Council of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held recently in the Rest Room, King Street. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. E. H. Dagg, and the following members of the executive, representative of all the districts in the Wairarapa were present: Mesdames Maitland, G. Reid, A. Ordish, P. Hodder, E. Allen, E. Ross, G. M. Nitz, L. R. Grant. J. McAnulty, Beu. Wiggins, Jameson, D. James, C. C. Jackson, Barrel - and M. Rue and the Misses Anderson, Eagar and E. Dagg. During the meeting mention was made of the visit to Masterton of the Dominion President (Mrs Noel Adams) and the pleasure it had given members to meet her once more. ”lt was resolved to thank the Country Women’s Club for the use of their rooms on the occasion of the president’s visit. A very hearty vote of thanks was extended to Mrs. McAnulty for her demonstration of the weaving of wool recently made at the Exhibition on behalf of the Council. A prolonged discussion took place as to what articles of use ■ to the New Zealanders serving overseas should be provided. Ultimately it was decided to knit balaclavas, mittens and scarves' and forward them to the general depot. A letter was received from Mr Magill expressing appreciation of the action of the Division in the adoption of two Chinese children. It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the Council on Wednesday, May 15. The serving of afternoon tea brought a very interesting meeting io a close.
