CARTERTON
PRAGNELL CUP RETAINED BY W. SORENSEN. A ("Times-Age” Special.) The first challenge for the Pragnell Cup for this season was played on the Carterton green last evening between W. Sorensen (holder), and W. Higginson (challenger) of the Grey town Club. The game was stubbornly contested throughout, and at one stage it looked as if the holder would lose the trophy on the 20th end, the score was 14/13 in favour of Higgison and at the last end Higgison was holding two shots when Sorensen drew his last shot off a wing bowl and counted one. Higgison had the second and third shots and tried to run his opponent’s shot bowl off with his last, and failed by inches. The games ended 14 all and the cup is thus retained by Sorensen.
