COAL STRIKE EFFECTS IN AUSTRALIA. UNEMPLOYMENT IN STEEL WORKS. By Telegraph—Pi’ess Association —Copyright SYDNEY, April 2. The effects of the coal strike are dailv becoming more noticeable throughout Australia, chiefly through a progressive curtailment of railway and shipping services. The country and suburban train services are to be pruned in New South Wales next week-end. This course has already been taken in Victoria and Queensland. The passenger shipping service between Sydney and Tasmania will cease shortly. Four thousand employees at the steel works in Newcastle will become idle by tonight.
