CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY PAHIATUA. ("Times-Age” Special.) By beating Eketahuna on Saturday, by an innings and 14 runs, Pahiatua for the second year in succession won the Bush District cricket championship. At the conclusion of the game cheers for the winners were given on the call of the Eketahuna captain, H. Higginson. Pahiatua was two points ahead of Eketahuna. RIFLE SHOOTING ALFREDTON CLUB. The Alfredton Club fired the second of the championship competitions on Saturday. The wind, although light, was troublesome, especially at the early ranges, and scores were not high until the last range (600 yards), where Rfm. A. Algie was top scorer with 49. several scores of 48 were registered. Rfm. A. Edmonds and C. Morrison were top scorers for the day off the rifle with 187 each. The day’s trophy was won by Rfm L. Robinson, of the Post Office staff, has resumed duties after his holiday. Mr Noel White. Te Kuiti, returned home today after visiting his aunt, Mrs H. Price. Stanley Street. Through the vacancy caused by Mr George Ancel resigned from the Pahiatua Borough Council, Mr J. Milne Allan, who is well known in Eketahuna has been nominated as a candidate. He was nominated by Dr Hugh Paterson and Mr J. L. Terry. So tar there are no other candidates.
