ACTIVITIES OF THE FRENCH PREMIER REPORT TO THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS. MEASURES AGAINST COMMUNISTS AND NAZIS. The following Daventry message!? have been rebroadcast by the New Zealand National stations: — The French Prime Minister (M Reynaud) continued his political activity during the weekend when he attended a meeting of the Council of Ministers and had conversations with the French Ambassador from Brussels and Rome. To the Council of Ministers he gave an account of the meeting of the Supreme War Council in London recently. The measures already taken against Communists and Nazi activities in France were indicated. In England many newspapers suggest that an intensified form of conflict is to be expected. The British blockade on Germany may be tightened. SWEDEN AND THE ALLIES. The Swedish Foreign Minister declared that Britain had not merely offered effective aid to Finland in her fight against aggression, but had been prepared to give Norway and Sweden help should they have been menaced by Germany as a result of allowing the transit of Allied forces. FINNISH RECONSTRUCTION The Finnish Government has drawn up plans to have thousands of farmers moved out of the territory, handed over to Russia. State, church and private land is to be divided into holdings of 35 acres, and the settlers are to be exempt from the payment of rates and taxes for five years.
