SEVEN FRENCH PLANES SHOT DOWN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. BERLIN. April 1. It is officially announced that German planes shot down seven French planes in a series of air fights on the Western Front. The Germans suffered no losses. A French communique reports. Daventry states, particularly heavy artillery fire west of the Saar, and great activity in the air. Several air fights took place from which all the French machines returned safely, though the results of these fights are not. yet known. Two French fighters were shot down on the previous day. The pilot of one machine escaped by parachute.
