WEDDINGS

PATRICK—CAIRNS. A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church on Monday morning, t.he contracting parties being Kathleen Monica, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. IVI. Cairns, of Masterton, and John Crumbie. elder son of Mr J. C. Patrick, of Gisborne, and the late Mrs Patrick. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Moore, who also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Mrs Bunny presided at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of cream ottoman brocade, made 'on fitting lines, the skirt falling to form a long train. The beautiful embroidered veil (the gift of the bride's grandmother) was held in place with a Juliet cap of velvet Howers and was finished with a wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of gladiolus and lilies.

The bridesmaids were Misses Margaret Patrick, of Gisborne (sister .of the bridegroom). Maureen Cairns (sister of the bride), and little Pauline Grdenlees. They were dressed alike in pretty frocks of mauve taffeta, featuring bands of rucking at neck, sleeves and hem, and wore dainty Juliet caps of mauve velvet flowers and gold shoes. Bouquets of golden flowers completed a charming picture. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Desmond Cairns as best man.

A reception was held later at St. Patrick's Hall, the guests being received by Mrs Cairns, who wore a frock of navy cloque and lace, with hat and shoes to match. She carried a bouquet of autumn tints. Mr and Mrs Patrick left later by car en route to Auckland (where their future home will be), the bride wearing a bottle green tailored costume with brown accessories.

GRYLLS—JAMES. A CHARMING SETTING. Masses of pink and blue hydrangea and gladioli formed a charming setting for the marriage of Peggy, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs N. IT. James, Masterton, to Gordon, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Grylls, of Waimate, at St Matthew's Church, Masterton, yesterday afternoon. The ceremony was performed by the Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich, Mr Miller Hope presiding at the organ. The bride', who was escorted by her father, chose a gown of pale pink taffeta-backed satin, cut on Edwardian lines, with bustle effect at the back, her veil being of palest pink to match, caught up with a topknot of pink roses. She carried a sheaf of cream Easter lillies and pale pink roses. Miss Marnie Miles, of Wellington, who was in attendance as bridesmaid, wore a pretty creation of delphinium blue chiffon, with accessories to tone, and carried a sheaf of pink and blue delphiniums. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr W. Bruxton. of Dunedin. The reception was held at Mr and Mrs James's home in Pownall Street, where Mrs James received intimate friends, wearing a gown of dark delphinium blue marrocain, with touches of cyclamen, with accessories to tone. Mrs Stewart Wilson, sister of the bride, was attired in navy blue, with coat and spray to tone. The lounge was decorated with a profusion of flowers in shades of pink. When Mr and Mrs G. Grylls left on their honeymoon, the bride wore a grey tailored suit, with fox fur, hat, etc to match. Their future home will be in Dunedin.

Mcsdames Neil Irwin and John Lawson were responsible for the artistic decorations at the church, while Mrs Peter Gordon made the wedding bells which hung over the bridal party at the reception.
