Illustrating the rise in Russian purchases of United States metals, the Commerce Department revealed that the Soviet purchased 53,205,7841bs of copper in January, compared with 45,496.194 in the previous two months, and 12,194,7181bs of molybdenum in October, November and December, compared with 5,948,6601bs in the previous nine months. The Soviet started buying tin in November, when it took 67.192 lbs. December shipments totalled 1,889,4581bs and January shipments 2.138,1581b5.
