COSY THEATRE
“THE AWFUL TRUTH.” Columbia’s new Irene Dunne comedy, “The Awfifl Truth,” will be finally shown tonight at the Cosy Theatre. It presents the beautiful star in the most outstanding production of her brilliant career. Miss Dunne emerges more brilliantly and more exciting than ever in her latest achievement. Cary Grant, her co-star, is perfectly cast in the role of her handsome young husband, and the two romp through a series of madcap escapades in a merry mix-up of matrimonial misunderstandings. Contributing towards much of the fun is that splendid canine player, Asta. Ralph Bellamy, popular young leading man, heads a large supporting cast including Joyce Compton, Marguerite Churchill, Robert Allen and Esther Dale.
The associate feature is the amazingly frank “Girls’ School,” telling the story of a hundred hearts trembling on the verge of a hundred breathless tomorrows. Anne Shirley, Ralph Bellamy and Nan Grey are the principals in a cast which tenderly and dramatically captures the spirit of young girlhood and romance. “INVITATION TO HAPPINESS.” The change of programme at the Cosy Theatre tomorrow will be headed by a thrilling romance dealing mainly with the boxing ring. “Au Invitation to Happiness.” It is a most unusual picture. Women will take it close to their hearts, and men will remember it. for “Invitation to Happiness” is a drama which presents an emotional problem that might develop in the lives of any couple. It is the story of a prize fighter who marries a society girl. The leading roles are taken by Irene Dunne, Fred Mac Murray, Charles Ruggles, Billy Cook and W. Collier Senr. The support feature is “Grand Jury Secrets,” starring John Howard, Gail Patrick, W. Frawley, Harvey Stevens, and Porter Hall. The story tells of the sensational headline scoop of the year—a conflict between two brothers, one a newspaperman, the other an assistant district attorney, as to just how secret a Grand Jury probe should be, with an additional difference over a young lady. “Scouts to the Rescue," will also be shown.
