BIG BRITISH LINERS

DEPARTURE FROM NEW YORK. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. NEW YORK, March 22. The liners Queen Mary and Mauretania have put to sea. The Mauretania left the pier at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Her long grey hull was revealed by flashes of lightning as she slipped to sea in a thunderstorm. It is believed she was under sealed orders.

The demountable cabin walls on the Queen Mary were being removed when the Mauretania sailed. Smoke was also billowing from the Samaria’s funnels.

The Queen Mary left at 8.30 o’clock ibis morning.
