COSY THEATRE

“TWO BRIGHT BOYS.” Jackie Cooper and Freddie Bartholomew share co-starring honours in their new Universal film, “Two Bright Eoys,” which will be shown tonight at the Cosy Theatre. Here is a story into which are woven heart-throbs, laughter and the absorbing drama of a youngster’s courage - in the face of impending disaster. In this picture, both Freddie and Jackie prove their right to a place among the screen’s favourites. Jackie is the penniless youth who defies an unscrupulous oil baron while trying desperately to drill a wildcat well on a rundown Texas farm. He delivers a performance that will strike deep into the hearts of theatre-goers. The natural charm and talent which have endeared him to millions are given full opportunity for expression. Dorothy Peterson as Jackie’s mother, and J. M. Kerrigan in the role of a fire-eating old oil driller, contribute Io the general excellence of this splendid film. A new co-starring team makes its screen debut in the associate feature, a comedy called “Woman Are Like That.” The original story by A. H. Z. Carr was made into a screen play by Horace Jackson and the picture was directed by Stanley Logan, who was also responsible for Kay’s highly successful comedy of political life, “First Lady.” In the cast that supports Miss Francis and Mr O’Brien, are such notables as Ralph Forbes, Melville Cooper, Thurston Hall, Grant Mitchell and Herbert Rawlinson
