STOCK MARKET
ADDINGTON VALUES. (By Telegraph—Press Asociation.) CHRISTCHURCH. March 19. The Addington live stock market was held today because of the Easter holidays. There were reduced yardings of store sheep, but a heavy entry of breeding ewes, the best of which sold up to ewe fair rates. Fine-wool sorts were in somewhat better demand than at recent Addington sales. Romney cross ewes and all older sorts were down in price, bringing about the lowest values of the season. There was a smaller entry of fat sheep. There was a slight general easing in the values of good sheep, and a more pronounced easing for medium and inferior sorts. Fat cattle were limited to a small yarding, and there was a weaker sale all round. A small entry of porkers was forward. and a sharp rise in prices of about 4/- .a head resulted. The average price a lb. was 7d to 7"d. Baconers had a larger entry and a weaker market. The average price a lb. was 6id to 7d. PAHIATUA SALE ADVANCE IN PRICES. The Associated Auctioneers report on the Pahiatua sale when a large offering of sheep was submitted. The sale was firm throughout, prices for store wethers and breeding ewes were in advance of recent sales and the demand for top wether lambs and good black-face lambs was greatly appreciated by vendors.
