WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING HELD TODAY.

The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council was held at Carterton today. Mr Duncan McGregor. chairman, presiding. There were also present:—Councillors F. Court. L. T. Gallon. W. A. Renall, E. W. Allen. A. E. Reid, C. A. Cameron. J. K. Strang and Alex. McGregor. Accounts totalling 1'18.34 were passed and receipts since the last meeting totalled 1'2714. It was decided to make a donation of £250 to the Carterton Centennial Memorial.
In connection with the recent celebrations it was agreed that a letter of congratulation be sent to the Carterton Borough Council, complimenting all concerned on the fine display. A letter is also to be sent to county employees thanking them for their services on the day of the Centennial procession.
The registration of dogs was postponed until April 1' in accordance with advice received from the Department of Internal Affairs. Mr 1-1. J. McKenzie, overseer. Carrington water race, reported that during the past month the digging out and repairing of a few bad leaks had been, carried out, and the usual maintenance work effected. Mr McKenzie also reported that in connection with the Taratahi water race, four small floods came down during the month. A start had been made with the cutting of noxious weeds on the main race reserve. Winds had caused the usual trouble by blowing rubbish into the races.
