MAGISTRATE’S COURT

SITTING IN MASTERTON. SMALL LIST OF CASES. The fortnightly sitting of the Masterton Magistrate's Court was held this morning before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M. A young man who appeared on a charge of unlawfully converting a mo-tor-car to his own use, near Featherston on March 19, was placed on probation for two years and ordered to pay the cost of the damage, amounting to £lO, caused to the car. The Magistrate suppressed defendant’s name Mads Jorgen Neilsen, on a charge of failing to give way in his car to traffic approaching on his right at the intersection of Mauriceville West and Mt. Munro roads on February 19, was lined £3 with costs 10s. For carrying no warrant of fitness for his car on the Dryers' Rock Road on February 17. Gordon Murdoch McKenzie was fined 5s and costs 10s. On a charge of failing to keep his car as close as practicable to his left of the road, defendant was fined £3 and costs 10s. A young man who appeared on an information of having used insulting

words to a woman in Queen Street, when taxed with the offence admitted it and it was stated, had given an apology to the person concerned. Upon the charge being mentioned the Magistrate adjourned the matter sine die. dependent on the good behaviour or the party concerned.
