The appointment of Mr Henry Seymour King in the stead of Mr William Robertson, retired, and of Mr Felix Herbert Waters as members of the National Provident Board, was gazetted last night. Mrs J. L. Hair, Masterton, has, been appointed to the Wairarapa College Board oif Governors, as nominee of the Governor-General. Mrs Hair will i eplace Mrs C. C. Jackson, who has been a member of the board for some years. Mrs Hair's appointment took c fleet on March 14.

The resignation of Mr W. W. Bird, one of the two representatives of the Hutt-Horowhenua ward on the Wellington Education Board, was received with regret at yesterday’s meeting of the board. He will leave at the end of next week to make his permanent home in Napier. Mr Bird was elected to the board in July. 1939. on the death of Mr Peter Robertson.

The postal ballot for the election of one of the two shareholders’ representatives on the board of directors of the Bank of New Zealand resulted in the re-election of Mr R. W. Gibbs by a large majority. The counting of votes was completed yesterday afternoon, the returns being as follows: —Richard Waine Gibbs, 961,153 votes; Matthew Oliver Barnett, 221,384. Mr Gibbs is thus re-elected for a further term of three years from March 31. Mr Gibbs, who is the doyen of New Zealand bankers. has been continuously associated with the Bank of New Zealand for nearly 63 years, and has represented the shareholders as a director for 20 years.
