Easter Racing Acceptances PROSPECTS FOR WAIRARAPA MEETING (BY “THE GRAFTER.”) The acceptances for the first clay of the Wairarapa Racing Club’s meeting should provide some excellent racing Though the field in the Easter Handicap, I.] miles, is restricted to seven runners, the class and form of the entrants will make it difficult for punters to select the winner. The Opaki trained White Rajah, owned by Mr J. Jameson, is striding along nicely in his work and the Eastern Monarch gelding should be solidly supported by local racegoers. White Rajah has performed well recently, having won the Morrinsville Handicap at Te Aroha last month and running second in the Jubilee Hack Cup to Pern. At Franklin oh March 2he was second to Clipper In the Dynes Fulton Memorial Handicap. He also ran well at the recent Trentham meeting. Lady Furst, the top weight, did not show up too well at the Woodville meeting in December, and was unplaced in the Bunny Memorial Handicap at the Carterton meeting on March 9 though she led till the home turn. She is reported to have done better work on the track since. Gay Mimic in his last six starts has saluted the judge three times, his wins including the Pahiatua Cup on January 26 and the principle event on the second day. He failed on'the first day at Wanganui but made up for this by winning the Earle Stakes next day. At the Egmont meeting he rail unplaced both days, but since then has shaped better on the track. Tooley Street has performed indifferently of late. He ran second to Solaria in the Normanby Handicap at Egmont and was fourth in the Wairarapa County Cup, which 'was won by Galteemore, the latter being unplaced in his three previous races. Dainty Sue won at Awapuni on Boxing Day but followed this with three “also rans." Trebor ran ,second in the Wairarapa Cup and second to Rarotonga at Levin. The prospects generally are very good for the meeting and the progressive policy of the Club warrants the strong support of the public.
