NOTED MINISTER

VISIT TO MASTERTON. DR McKENZIE. OF AUSTRALIA. A well known minister from Australia visited Masterton yesterday—the Right Rev Dr McKenzie, M.A.. past Moderator-General of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, who spent a few hours here en route to Wellington. He was accompanied by the Rev A. and Mrs Armstrong, of Pahiatua.

On Sunday at Pahiatua. Dr McKenzie- conducted jubilee Sunday services, and was warmly welcomed by largecongregations, many of whom remembered that it was in Pahiatua about 50 years ago that Dr McKenzie began his Ministry; among the pioneers. Dr McKenzie was deeply impressed with the beauty'. apparent progress and prosperity of Masterton. As a Director of the youth movement in the Church of Victoria, he was very much impressed by what he saw on a visit to Solway' College, and to the Youth Buildings of Knox Church. Dr McKenzie declared that having seen foi himself the very' substantial town and homes in beautiful conditions he would be able to refute the false statements that No Licence was in any way detrimental to the progress of the town and district. He had never seen better educational institutions in any place of equal size and complemented the members of Knox Church and its Ministei with having the first Youth Building; in Australasia. The visit had been one of great enlightenment to him. he said, and he would not fail to -tell the truth about conditions in Masterton. Dr McKenzie was the guest while here ot Mrs J. Elliott, of Colombo Road. He left by the afternoon train for Wellington. Dr McKenzie said that he regretted not being able to meet Dr Albistor. President of the Methodist Church of Australia, who arrived later. He said that he knew Dr Albiston well, being in a neighbouring parish at Toorak, a suburb of Melbourne.
